The Ebruli series is based on a production process in which I work with traditional marbling patterns and reorganize them digitally through mirroring, repetition, and symmetry. The rhythmic structure already inherent in marbling is reinforced through these digital interventions. Throughout this process, visual relationships between marbling, Islamic art, and Asian aesthetic traditions are observed, and this shared visual language is reconsidered within a contemporary context. This work approaches marbling through today’s visual language while opening a space where patterns take form on the body. The polar scarves function as both the material and the expressive surface of the project, allowing the patterns to become animated through movement and completed through the body. Ebruli is positioned at the intersection of art, craft, and design. The project explores how patterns are perceived not only as surfaces but also as fields of identity. The relationship different individuals establish with different patterns makes visible the connection between pattern, body, and identity. Much like the patterns found in nature, the patterns carried on the body become part of the wearer’s sense of wholeness.
